about

Established by two lecturers from West Lothian College in February 2021, The Man Cave was set up to help men and teens talk about their mental health after identifying a particular need in male-dominated courses.

Thomas and Matt made it their mission to get these young men talking, and The Man Cave was born.

Mission Statement:

We need to be better at supporting each other, so we are asking that men help us and help each other; we are asking that each and every one of us Bro Up and when you see a friend feeling low, pick them up with something as simple as a message.

Men don't talk. That's not a sweeping statement, but it's also not far from being accurate. Here at The Man Cave, we hope to help men realise that they aren't alone, and the pressures and stresses of their lives are shared.

It's time that we, as a society, broke the stigma around mental health and our goal is to support men and teenage boys in being open about their mental health and helping them through the darker days.

But it's not all about the dark days.

Mental Health is constantly in flux and we need men to understand that you can't always be on top of the world, but you won't always be at the bottom either.

The Man Cave aims to educate and support that journey by creating an environment where men can be open and help each other with their mental health.

We are doing this by developing a support system to reduce people's isolation when dealing with their mental health and offering an environment where men can discuss the current pressure of life without the worry of judgement.

Our ultimate goal is to make a world where we are no longer needed, where men feel they can discuss their mental health openly without fear of judgement or stigmatisation.

Men need to be better at supporting each other, so we are asking that men help us and help each other; we are asking that each and every one of us Bro Up and when you see a friend feeling low, pick them up.
